Release dates update

We’ve updated our estimated release dates for our remaining Next G modem based on our current development progress.

The updated release dates are as follows:

- Ethernet Docking station for MiniMax : March ‘07
- Industrial Modem : June ‘07
- Quad band (850/900/1900/2100mhz) compatible MiniMax : June ‘07
- Express Card Modem : TBA (the development of this modem will follow after the previous ones are complete

We have unfortunately had to delay the release dates of some of our produts. This is due to our desire to provide the product in a fully functional (and bug free!) state.

    yes david
as jonathon said above me it is mid july
and on june 28 you stated that mid july would be a safe bet
or is it still the same answer
    marketing decisions holding it up
if this is the case i think its time you sack your marketing department and hire a marketing department that will actually do something
    regards mark

How do I get included in the media releases/updates please. I have a bunch of readers hanging out for information. I also really need this router.

what has happened to the Maxon people … nobody has deemed us worthy enough to post a response for at least the last week…. Hello anybody still out there or are you keeping a low profile to avoid these difficult questions like When is something going to be avaialable?

It is a shame they don’t appear to have any competition in this field!!!

  4. mark says:

    good on ya Jonathon
    i agree completely with you
pity they don’t have competition or i would be gone long ago
they say one thing and do another
i’m fed up with the l__s & b_____t that they keep on feeding us, they can’t even give us an honest answer-they have been telling me a safe bet since march or april, looks like the end of the year the way they are going, when the OPEL network is up and running im going there and leaving telstra & Maxon for good and never to return, and im telling everyone i know to stay away from next G and Maxon, and i tell at least 2 people per day,bad news travels fast

  5. mark says:

    hey jonathon
do you realise that the last reply from the people at maxon
was from David on july 2, today (tuesday)is the 24th july
that means no reply or corespondance from maxon for 22 days
your right they are simply avoiding the hard questions on this blog, to all the people out there that are patiently or impatiently waiting the release, vent your opinions on this blog,so they can see just how many people are p____d off about the continual delays, the more the merrier
if there is enough response maybe they might get off their backsides and do something

  6. David says:

    Mac,

To get regular formal updates from us, I’d suggest signing up to our newsletter (www.maxon.com.au click on the MaxFlash link in the corner).

    Mark/Jonathan

Which would you prefer, that I post what could possibly be the release date (and might be delayed again), or that I simply wait until it’s concrete enough to be able to say with certainty when we will have the units?

Mark, I completely understand your frustration, however what makes you think that we are on our backsides? As I’ve said before, it’s actually in OUR interests to have products on the market!

I know there are people waiting for us to release the docking station, and when it is ready, it will be available.

What I expect is that Maxon is a professional enough company to be able to run projects to a timeline and to meet commitments that are made to the market… we all live in the world of meeting customer expectations, and no customer likes to be jerked around like this or kept in the dark.

p.s. I make my living working as a Global Customer Service Manager and the Brand image is very important, and meeting commitments and obligations is an integral part of that …you still managed in the note above to avoid any commitment or indication of timelines … any news at all?

I share your frustration Jonathan but having spent a very long time in the RAAF and beyond in R&D I truly can understand that rushing items into production, often under pressure from non tech’s can lead to massive production and credibility problems.

Customer service and technical staff seem to spend most of their lives blaming each other one way and another. i (of course)on the side of the tech’s but also know well where you are coming from.

  10. mark says:

    david well done
you managed to attempt to shift the blame with nos suc cess and still no update
    well done indeed
ive given up and am going away from next g

  11. Jonathan says:

    Mac,
I am not trying to put a blame on a department, as you are all Maxon as far as Customers are concerned.

What I am going on is the post from David on June 28th where he states “As is probably obvious by now we won’t have stock of the modem in June. Production is under way though, so mid July is probably a safe bet.”

As it is now August what happened to the safe bet? What all of us are after is not a bet, but reliable trusted response that will let the Customers (remember them) know what is really happening.

So once again do you have any firm dates yet?

  12. David says:

Hi jonathan. Please check the main blog page. I’ve since posted a update on the ethermax status. (http://www.maxon.com.au/3gblog)

  13. Jonathan says:

David, thanks … I didn’t even know that existed..

  14. Matt says:

Where is this Ethernet Docking Station.
    Will it ever be released?

  15. David says:

    Hi Matt,

As I mentioned to Jonathan a couple of posts ago, please check the main blog page. There have been updates on the EtherMax since. (www.maxon.com.au/3gblog).

  16. mark says:

    david
i see that on august 1 you stated that no production that week
but should have stock in hand late the following week
well its now late the following week
no sign of it by late this week either
i wonder which week it was goin g to be late
as its deffinately very late now
as gomer pyle use to say “surprise, surprise”
or are you too young to know who gomer pyle was
christmas is looking like a sure bet
anyone want to take bets on the release date

  17. mark says:

david, you havent replied to my comments on aug 9
the last update was on aug 1 stating week following august 1
its now 2 weeks later, how often do you check this blog anyway
you committed yourself to a date on august 1
    and guess what
another empty promise with no follow up to advise of changes
your company would have to be one the most unprofessional one’s ive ever struck-except for telstra
    and thats saying something
    typical of you
    disgruntled mark

  18. mark says:

david, still no reply, good on you, keep up the good work
    disgruntled mark

  19. Steve says:

Its a product that should have been released right from the start let alone 7 months later. Rediculous not having a product to make the connection available on a network and yes Im aware of the work arounds but we shouldnt have had to. Has no one heard the term “Router”???
Disgusted not the half of it!!

  20. mark says:

good on ya steve, anyone else out there fed up with it all
vent your anger on this blog, david committed to a date and yes they have broken that commitment once again
    very unprofessional looking organisation
they say one thing and simply don’t deliver at all
if they were working for me i simply would sack the lot of them
    disgruntled mark again

  21. mark says:

and they dont have the decency to make a comment or tell us of any delays, the last comment was from david on august 6
production has been under way since june 28,then mid july was a safe bet, then it was posted on august 1 that the end of the following week stock would be in hand
so following their pattern does that mean 2nd week in september or december
can someone at maxon give us an update
    disgruntled mark

  22. mark says:

hey everyone i just looked on the online shop and it shows the ethermax with a picture and price,i gues its now in stock, shop your hearts out boys and girls
it would have been good of them to let us know it was available, but its typical of maxon

  23. David says:

    Hi Mark,

I’ve been waiting until we actually have stock in hand to announce any further dates, as (as you pointed out) every other release date/schedule I’ve been given has been delayed.

I tried posting updates as I was given them, however (as they were continually delayed) this only seemed to frustrate further, so now I am holding off on updating further until we have the units in the warehouse.
