RFI will be releasing our new 4G CAT1 version of Maxon’s Intelimax Lite serial modem in April. This will be the first LTE CAT1 modem (with 700 MHz band 28 support) in Australia with a cellular engine that will have approvals from all major carriers in the country.
The Intelimax Lite 4G is designed specifically as a cost-effective serial modem where standard features of data communications are required. This device is ideally suited for low power and low data rate applications in 4G. It is designed to meet the requirements of the cutting-edge LTE market.

The Intelimax Family
The Intelimax family of cellular modems already has an excellent reputation as a reliable industrial modem in the 3G range. This Maxon range includes Intelimax, Intelimax+ and Intelimax Lite - widely used in different industries in applications such as remote meter reading, SCADA telemetry, tracking and fleet management.

The Intelimax+ is a 3G serial modem designed in Australia for industrial M2M remote monitoring applications as well as data collection and controlling the flow of data between devices and control equipment.
The Intelimax+ is engineered especially to withstand Australia’s vast climate and extreme environmental conditions with operating temperatures between -30° to 85°c. The Intelimax+ has an impressive full feature set including extensive event recording, connection management, fault recovery, security features, and remote firmware upgradability. Carried over from it’s predecessor, it also boasts enhanced capabilities such as CSD to IP, remote AT commands, SSH, Telnet, remote management, onboard IP stack, FTP and a variety of security features including; secure AT commands, SSLv3 socket, SNMPv3 and secure syslog content.
The Intelimax Lite is designed specifically as a cost effective serial modem where standard features of data communications are required. This device is ideally suited for low power (20-30mA at idle) applications and would be the ideal solution when upgrading from 2G to 3G.
The Intelimax Lite has all the essential functionality for todays M2M environment including RS-485 hardware option, extreme operating temperatures (-30° to 85°c) and an SMA antenna for improved signal strength. This compact and economical device is the ideal solution for high volume applications.
The Maxon Intelimax modem has the unique in-built feature of being able to change between modes and configure settings remotely over a CSD call. This is especially useful if you have a modem in the field that you need to remotely configure using remote AT commands or the Intelimax GUI but are currently using CSD to talk to this modem. Using these commands lets you change to an IP connection for easy access to the device over an IP connection. This feature is available from firmware versions 0.1.67 onwards.
It is very important to ensure that you can access your modem once this is done which means either using a static IP address (private IP WAN or similar) or a public dynamic IP address such as telstra.extranet the WAN IP of which can be found via SMS.
Dial out to the modem via a command line terminal session to your data modem using the data number of the SIM card in the Intelimax. The sting will be as follows: ATDT0400123456. Once the ‘CONNECT’ message has been displayed you are connected.
Intelimax Remote Configuration Commands
The following commands can be used to change the settings of the Intelimax:
1- IP Stack Auto mode –auto connect IP
2- IP Stack Manual mode –manual connect IP
3- Serial modem mode –for CSD or when end device controls connection
Apply all the settings and reboot: program.maxon.lock
Once the commands have been received by the modem it will display ‘Modem will reboot now’ and the call will be dropped as the modem reboots:
